Under the auspices and wi h the assistance of tbe Koseburg Orches tra, of w hich I'rof. Appelhoff is director. at the Koseburg Theater last Thursday evening. On t his auspicious and inem-1 orahle occasion the Orchestra memliere: made their appearance in their ness I broadcloth dress suits, and presented a very striking ami professional appear- ance. The choruses were composed of from 30 to 4t) voices ami all of the num bers, Itoth instrumental anil vocal were of a decidedly high class nature, in fact they were all classical favorites. The careful practice and efficiency of the or chestra was demonstrated in its b plead id rendition of that difficult selection 'Overture to Win. Tell." The Ladies chorus as well as the mixed chorus, were well timed ami very harmouous, the voices blending splendidly. A striking chorus feature ami one which made a decided hit, was the vocal combat, by male voices, while the vocal yip by W. Dale Strange with cornet anil piano, was decidedly well rendered and received with due appreciation Prof .1 A. Nulling, who has perfected the organization of a i.ew band in Hose burg delighted the large audience with a well executed cornet solo and very graceful y tee ponded to a hearty encore Every number was a musical gem and was encored to the echo.
