HYPNOTISH A CURE
FOR RHEUMATISM
Chicago, March 15. Hypnotism as a cure for rheuma
tism has been brought to the attention of the University of
Chicago medical professors by the discoveries and demon
stration of Otto V. Groenberg, a young' medical student,
who professes to cure the most chronic cases of ailment b
hypnotism. Young Greenberg's theory was given a trial
in a phvsiology class, conducted by Professor Anton J.
Carlton. A helpless cripple from the Home for Incurables
was brought to the classroom on a stretcher and thrown
into a hvpnotic state by Greenberg. When under the
mental influence of the operator the man was told he was
to have the use of his limb. When he was released he
was able to move his lower limbs, a feat which he had not
accomplished for a long time before.
