Bryan's Appeal for Parker. Friends and countrymen, let's trust him Though he's not a man to trust Let's endeavor to elect him, Though his cause is far from just : I have put awav all rancor As I promised them I would, I am for the splendid ticket, Though it isn't any good. Let us gird ourselves for hattle But 1 hope we cannot win Let us pray to be successful, Though success would be a sin. Let us give the people's banner Unto him to nobly bear, But it's dangerous to do it For it isn't on the square. Let us wave our hats for Parker, The poor tool of foxy Dave ; Let us rest our hopes upon him, Though he's Mammon's cringing slave ! Let us raise him up to power, Help to send him whooping through But remember here I warn you You'll be sorry if you do. Myrtle Creek News. (From the Mail.) Died, at Canyonville, on July 2S, 1904, Wni. Linville, aged 90 years. The Johnson Lumber Co. is having their dams lepaired and everything put in shape for an active season's run with their big mill here. "Ym. P. Johnson visited Grants Pass, Medford and Ashland this week in the interest of his extensive lumbering busi ness here. W. H. Cochran has sold his residence property in Myrtle Creek to Mrs. Suth erlin of Winchester and moved with his family this week to Wilbur. A fine little daughter was bora Sun day afternoon to Mr. and Mrs. "Won. P. Johnson. Consequently Wni. P. is stepping higher than a blind horse in a yellow jackets' nest. However, the doctors believe they can pull him through all right by careful nursing. .Miss .Belle franer ol Kiddle was in town yesterday and informed us that she expects to start next week for San Francisco, where she will remain a vear in the Hopkins art institute. Her brother. G. E. Pruner and wife accom panied her to Myrtle Creek. Ihe editor's wife and three little sons left Roseburg, Monday for Portland where Mrs. Shutt will remain in the St. Vincent hospital a month or so, under medical treatment, it being necessary to have an operation performed. Dur ing this time the children will remain at the home of their aunt, the wife of Bev. E. Curran at Hillsboro. A road petition is being circulated here by Ed Weaver and generally signed asking the county court of Douglas coun ty to make a county road on the south side of the TJmpqna river from Myrtle Creek to Riddle, a distance of six miles, with a bridge over the river here. Two miles of the road, at this end, is already completed, leaving onlv four miles to finish. Dr. Maggie Finlay, a prominent lady osteopothist, recently from Minneapolis, who has been for the past month at Roseburg, is in town and mav conclude to remain here for Eome time. On Tuesday afternoon a barn six miles below here, belonging to Robt, Eccleston of Fresno, Cal., was entirely destroyed by fire, together with about six toss of hay, a set of harness, etc We did not learn how the fire originated or whether there was any insurance on the property. Mrs. J. H. Butler, a prominent lady capitalist of Butte, Montana, who owns a section of valuable timber land near this place, is here this week for the pur pose of disponing of the land to Rose' bure capitalists. Mrs. Butler and her eon, who have become immensely wealthy in the cattle business in Mon tana, have concluded to leave that cold frozen country and have spent several winters in Florida, Southern California and Mexico, in the search for a milder and more suitable climate. It will sur prise a great many people to learn that Myrtle Creek suits; Mrs Butler better than any place she has seen in all her travels, and she has. signified her in ten tion of locating here permanently. She will first make a trip to Montana and dispose of her extensive interests there. Mrs. Butler and son will prove a valna ble acquisition to Myrtle Creek, and on people willive them a hearty welcome, Special Excursion to the World's Fair lne Denver & Kio brande, in connec tion with the Missouri Pacific, will run a series of Personally Conducted Excur sions to the World's Fair during June, These excursions will run through to St Louis without change of cars, making short stops at principal points enronte. The first of these Excursions will leave Portland June 7tb, and the second June 17th. The rate from Roseburg will be $75.45 to St. Louis and return. Excur sionists going via the Denver & Rio Grande have the privilege of returning via a differnt route. This is the most pleasant way, as well as the most de lightful route, to cross the continent, The stops arranged give an opportunity of visiting the various points of interest in and about Salt Lake City, Denver and Kansas City. If you wish to accompany one of these excursions write at once to W. C. McBride, 124 Third street, Port land, for sleeping car reservations The Fair Route Via Chicago or New Orleans to St, Xouis, is the one that gives you the most for your money, and the fact that the ILLINOIS CENTRAL offers unsur passed service via these points to the WORLD'S FAIR, and in this connec tion to all points beyond, makes it to your advantage, in case you contemplate a trip to any point east, to write us be fore making final arrangements. Without a healthy stomach and a good digestion, our blood is thin, watery "and poor, our heart action is weak, our liver docs not do its duty, and man is miserable and unhappy. In this condition man is prey to the germs of influenza, consumption, malaria and all tbe ills that be is beir to. Consumption can be treated by natural methodH which are as close to nature as possible. Dr. R. V. Pierce, chief consulting physi cian of the Invalids' Hotel and Surgical derstood this disease, and after a long pe riod of experiment discovered certain roots and herbs which were nature's remedies, and succeeded ia putting them up in a form that would be easily procured and ready to use. This he called Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery, It gives no false stimulation because it contains no alcohol and no narcotic. It helps diges tion and tbe assimilation of such elements in tbe food as are required for tbe blood. Instead of a cod liver oil, against which the already sensitive stomach will declare open rebellion, this tonic has a pacifying action upon the sensitive stomach and gives to the blood the food elements the SstUes require. It maintains the patient's nutrition by enabling him to eat, retain. digest and assimilate nutritious food. It 'overcomes gastric irritability and sytnp- r iji..,:. ,.:. ..,..
