Prubyterlans and Divorce. By the narrow majority of eighteen Votes in a total of 506 the Presby- terian General Assembly has rejected a resolution advising Presbyterian! ministers to refuse to perform the marnage ceremony in me case persons whose marriage might be for- biddden by the Church in which those persons held membership. The Presbyterian Church recognizes! divorce for infidelity and for wilful desertion, and concedes the right of the innocent party to marry again. The Episcopal Church recognizes only divorces granted, for infidelity, in which case the innocent party marry again. The Catholic Church recog nizes no divorce and concedes no rio-hr nf second marriage on the Dart of a divorced person. Had this resolution been adopted Presbyterian nw, twinlrl haw been unrated f fn m mnmr divnrppd Enisco- nlu. or Catholics, excluded bv " tw nwn rimrnhfls from entering in- tn snr-OTirl m.-irrincrft. Th sm.ill m.iinritv bv which the resolution was rejected evidences the growing disposition of evangelical rhnrr.hes to resort to drastic meas- ures to check the growing evil of di vorce. News Notes.
