The couple were married at East Portland, Nov. 23, 1SS9. Defendant is charged with cruel and in- an treatment and neglect'of regard for plaintiff. It is alleged thai defend ant left home in October, 1903, knowing Mrs. Richardson was sick, and went to Portland; while he was absent, her itinera became critical and word was sent to Mr. Richardson to return home at once, which ho failed and refused to do. Mrs. Richardson was alone and unablo to care for herself and was whol ly dependent on friends for food and care.
