The Cosgrove Orchestra concert at the Opera House Friday night was not so well attended as had been expected, but tho program was good throughout and well renuoreu. mo orchestra is one of the best musical organizations which has appeared in Roseburg for some time. The dance following the concert, directed by tho Native Daugh ters, was one of the most enjoyablo of the winter. The Roseburg young people who play cd "Under Two Flags" recently, will leavo on tomorrow morning's local for Cottage Grove where they will appear in the saino production tomorrow night and return on tho overland Wednesday morning. Mrs. J. T. Bridges and Mrs Clara Rast will chaperone tho party. The Basket Ball gamo on Saturday evening between the girls of tho Drain Normal School, and the local High School, at thu opera houe resulted in a decisive victory for our girls. Tho game was marked by some brilliant plays, in which our team showed their superior training. Aurie Black at forward, ex celled in basket throwing and Ella Black, with the cflicient co-operation of all the team did splendid work. Hazel Jqwett at guard, did good work keeping Drain's score down. Ha Carter, the other guard, did effective work also. Capt. Benedict played centor and played tho position woll. Tho visitors played a good game but were deficient in team work and were outclassed. Score 14 to 8. On Saturday afternoon Miss Ruth Hamilton very pleasantly onlertalned a party of about thirty young ladies at that noisy but thoroughly onjoyablo game "pit". The girls wore very much in earnest' about their bidding and no bunch of operators on 'chango wore ever moro anxious to corner a commodity than they. At tho closo of tho game Miss Maude Rast waB found to bo tho most successful operator and carried off tho box of bon bons. Miss Ruth was assist ed by her mother, Mrs. J. W. Hamilton and her nunt, Miss Stella Hamilton.
