POPULAR NORTH BEACH. Roseburg People Will an Ideal Recreation Find This Resort. Many Roseburg people have decided to spend their vacation at Popular Xorth Beach, at the mouth of the Columbia. Leaving Portland (daily except Sunday And Monday) on the 0. R. & X. Co.'s palatial Steamer T. J. Potter queen of river boats five hours are consumed in making the trip to Astoria, the scenery i including all that is beautiful, and through the great salmon fishing waters of the Lower Columbia. After a short stop at Astoria, the steamer isl off forj Ilwaco, on Baker's Bay, where the pas-, sengers loard the train waiting and are j soon off for North Beach, the popular i summer resort of the North Pacific coast. , During the trip from Ilwaco the firs-t good view of the Pacific is secured, the train running along the ridtre of the ' beach within two hundred yards of the , breakers. The beach is twenty-sewn miles long, two hundred yards! wide at low tide, and so hard that' caniase wheels scarcely leave a mark. It is an ideal place for driving, riding, wheel ing, or walking, and the surf bathing is unsurpassed. The excellent hotels and boaiding places provide good ac commodatiois at prices ranging from one dollar to three dollars per day. The round trip rate iroai Portland to Astoria is ?2.50 ; to Ocean Beach points $4.00, good until October loth.
