Xorgood of New Mexico, who is in "Washington said : "The way that cattle are suffering from mange in the Western and Southwestern states is annoying and expensive to breeders. This disease that is attacking the herds owes its origin to the importation of thioughbred bulls. It does not kill, but it causes the cattle so much distress that they cease to rustle for nutriment, do nothing but scratch themselves, lose flesh, and often succumb to the first spell of severe weather. Happily, there is a sure cure for the mange, and owners can save their steers by placing them in dipping vats. They are immersed in a liquid that is almost certain to put them in healthy condition. "Recognizing the peril of infection, nearly all of the Western states have passed the strictest quarantine laws. Kansas has even quarantined against a number of its own counties, and cattle in that district can not be driven a dis tance of fifteen miles unless to dipping vats. Ontof this situation a great deal of bitter feeling has arisen, as is always the case, whether human beings or animals are quarantined." Great Men and Great Pianos. i JULY CLEARANCE SALE.
