Gaddis, the creamery man, arrived in Medford last week and at once commenced laying plans for the eraction of a creamery in Medford. He has purchased a 60x130 foot lot on North A street, from Dan'l. Reynolds, and will at once commence the erection of a two-story building, 24x36 feet in size, in which to install the creamery plant which he has ordered. The plant will have a capacity of 1500 pounds of butter per day. The site chosen for the creamery is an exception ally good one, having convenient sewer age connections and being just far enough from the business part of the city to insure tho operation of it from too much intrusion from tho inquisitive, but close enough for the farmers to con veniently visit when in town. Mr. Gaddis is of the opinion that he will be able to start business with the milk from 300 cows. The only one thing now necessary to the success of this grand enterprise is the united co-operation ol all the farmers of the valley. The creamery will undoubt-idly be in opera tion inside of sixty days. Mr. Gaddis is, seemingly, a square, honest man and he's a hustler for business from the ground up not very far np, to bo sure, I because that he's a "sawod-off" in a tut I ue but he is a hustler and good bum neas." R. Child. Tho rooms were well filled, about ninety maids and matrons being guests and each counted herself fortunate in being in attendance. The feature of the afternoon was a series of verses, each descriptive of some oue of the guests, and much merriment was occasioned in the attempts to fit the verses to the ladies inspiring them. At Mrs. Child's reqnest each bi Uo n guest brought or sent a dime, the money to be used as a nucleus for a fund to fence the block ot land recently given for a park by the Waite addition owners to the Mental Culture Club, of which Mrs. Child is president. The col lusion occured alxuit 1 :55 Saturday morning at a side track named Walker, aliout 17 miles this side of Eugene. The particulars of the wreck as best we can learn them are: That the freight train was sup)oed to lie running 5 minutes ahead of the passenger. The freight stopped to take wood, and their flagman was not out far enough so he could not stop in time to prevent the accident. As a result of this wreck three lumber cars, a caboose aud the passenger engine are very badly broken up. No passengers were injured although the wreck was serious enough to delay traffic from eleven to twelve hours. T. E. Latimer, editor of the.
