Miss Clara McCoy, who has lieen in California 'for the past four months' re turned Saturday morning much im proved in health, and has again resumed her jxisition as assistant clerk iu the j Mist office, in this city. The goods were tak en from the latter's room In a private lioarding house- in Roseburg. The culprit, who claims to lie only 17 vears of age, says he was told by his brother, (whose whereaUmta ia not known) that the articles lielonged to him and to take them and sell them. He accord ingly went to the room and took the two satchels with their contents and sold them at a second-hand store in this c!ty. Kinney returned from Portland Sunday, and left today for Coos Bay where he giea to lay off the hand working for the company in that section. Major Kinney says that they have found that it will be impossible to continue the work during the rainy season, as there is Wing little or no progress whatever made, ami that under trjejgreatest difficulty and hard ship, therefore he sees fit to discontinue work for the present, but states po?i tivelv that work on the Great Central will l resumed by April and will then be pushed ahead with all possible dl- patch.
