Senator Marsters, in an eKiui-nt A Pleasant Receptk-n. A very pleasant reception was ten dered Mr. and Mrs. G. II." Churchill at the M. E. church Tuesday evening the members of that church. . The cere monies were interesting and appropri ate and could but forcibly impress Mr. and Mrs. Churchill with what bih rt gard they are lield by this denomina tion and the citizens of Roseburg gener ally. The reception concluded with an excellent reiiast and a fine rocker was presented to the venerable ronplw an token of the high esteem in which they are held by their friends. For some time past Mr. ami Mr. Churchill have been sojourning in Southern California, at Los Angeles and other plaia, and while pleased with the Golden Gate State they were delighted to get back to grand old Oregon, where the gentle pat ter of the rain at this season of the year affords an agreeable contrast to Califor nia's arid district. This - estimable couple were for many years prior to their departure to California a short time ago, active workers in tlie M. E. church of this city, and have been closely identified with its upbuilding, hence, this demonstration on the prt of this denomination on their return. They may decide to become permanent residents of our city again, and at any rate will remain the guests of their son, Frank H. Churchill and wife, during the holiday season. lC.4-tttUl- j N ,t.ce ! hTf-l? ici. :i Ui' !; vlrlur of n 11 1 IWI'h f Ul- !
