Sheriff Do Holt, of Douglas Comity, arrived in Almira shortly before noon today, and on hearing the story left for the Perkins ranch. He has not been seen since. SheriffCudib.ee, of Seattle, arrived in Almira from Wilson Creek, via Coulee City, late tonight. The fact that Sheriff De Bolt has not been heard from leads him to believe that he is hot on the trail. Cudihee firmly believes that Tracey passed through Coulee City about 11:30 last night. The purchase includes 130 acres lying on the water front, situated about a mile from the business center of Marshfield. belonging to the ITaunag.ui estate; a string r.f six forties lying just west of this owned by C. H. Merchant: and a 500 acres tract adjoining the Merchant land ou the west and extending over to Pony slough, and belonging to the I-'lanuagan estate. The transport Thomas arrived from Manila today bringing portions of the 24th and 25th Infantry, comprising 57 officers and 1594 enlisted men. General .Jacob H. Smith, who was recently court inartialed, was also aloard. Standing on the bridge of the transport Thomas, eagerly waiting with the ship's captain for a glimpse of his native shore, General Jacob H. Smith, tried by court-martial for having ordered the Island of Samar transformed inio a howling wilderness, was doomed this morning to first learn that the President had retired him from active duty. The pilot boai which met the Thomas just outside the Heads at 2 o'clock this morning brought o General Smith the first news of the President's action.
