Durrani's guard had a precife and ab
solute knowledge of how he might com
mit suicide. The most innocent-looking

face, lest with his knowledge of anatomy
he might jib it through hie eye into the
brain, lue guards were ready for poi

the nation s highest court ol his matter.
It was a faint hope. The prisoner, his
parents and lawyers had abandoned
hoi. The ecaffold waited !
Mrs. Durrant called at Ihe prison and
was admitted to the death chamber for a
last interview with her con. Their last
meeting was affecting, although both
strove to maintain their composure.
Kev. Edwards Davis, who had publicly
announced Ids intention to accompany
Durrant upon the scafto:d, was not ad
mitted to the prison this morning by
Warden Hale, and as the prisoner re
