and supposed such was the case, but ii

Slow Jerry has in his possession prob
ably the oldest map of the United States
in Oregon. It was published by U. S
Tanner ot Philadelphia in 1823, and was
presented to our friend Jerry, by his
mother. It was a completo traveler's
guide in those early years. Who in Ore
gon has an older one?
J. B. Wilson, road supervisor of dis
trict Ho. 41, war allowed 30 for work on

doubtless a very necessary piece of work
and the court has done a commendable

money, for, highway improvements, like
money for educational purposes, if judi
ciously applied, is money well expended
