Wesley Lamb came down this morn

Nevens and Byron have been doing
quite a bit of slashing on their ranch of
late, which makes it look very home
like. The Mjor is done with the old while
horse. He can manage old Bill all riht
enough. But Johnny had been fed too

riding along tbe road, Johnny bethought
himself of his younger days and started
off at a go-as-yon-please gait and Msjor
forgot to cast anchor, but having a firm
hold on the helm hove too and ran the

embarked. Now who wants to buy a
white horse? Well the Msjor has none
and never expects to have one for sale or

up Saturday. They are visiting rela

Tho oyster sapper at Gardner's hotel
last Tuesday night was quite well at
tended. There will be a dance at Young's hall
Saturday nights after this week.
It is reported that matrimonial breezes
aro playing around in a certain part of
our town. No doubt something will take
place soon.
Mark Holmes and Arthur Brock left
Thursday for their home at Salem
Mark took with him two of the lung
eared species of animals that are so
mnch prized by the mining fraternity for
their capacity of living on tho bountiful
store of a miners camp.
E. G. Young & Co. wa3 busy picking
and packing I turkeys for shipment last
week. Tho S. P. Co. left a baggago car
for their convenience for their shipment
to San Francisco. The car being taken
by the overland would reach San Fran
cisco much sooner than by fieight.

through this city this morning in two
sections with double header each.
The first section had 11 and the second
coaches, containing 500 passengers.
This shows that -when people can Iravel
cheaply they will travel extensively.
This cut ia rates does not much effect
tho daily through trains as tl.ey are
made up larctly of tourists from the
cast.

. At her residence Sunday night, Mre.
A. B. Gililland, of pneumonia, aged 71
years. Funeral rites at the Presbyterian
church Tuesday at 2 p. m. Interment in
Masonic cemetery. Mrs. Gilhland is a
sister of Judge W. R. Willis of this city.
