Mr. Condon's last, and seventh lecture
of the series, attracted an unusually
large audience, the subject being "Sur

three more lectures of the course. The
subject olmsen for nest week will be
"Jliuosand Minerals of Oregon."
Mrs. Duniway will lecture this (Fri

corner Third and Alder streets. Sub

Effectived Father Harmon will favor
the audience with appropriate temper
ance songs. The public are cordially
inviteu to attend.
A very'successful entertainment, un
der the auspices of the Good Temnlnrs.
was he'ld in their spacious and elegant
Hall, corner of Aider and Third streets.
Saturday evening. Addresses were made
by Mrs. Duniway, and Messrs. Ityan,
Garrison and Harmon. Appropriate
and spirited temperance soncs wore ren
dered between the speeches, and an ele
gant supper was liberally patronized by
the large audience present. After the
supper musicians were employed and a
merry party or ow and young folks
tripped the heavy, tramping heel and
light fantastic toe till twelve o'clock.
As this paper goes to press Thursdays,
we bad no opportunity to give a notice
of the colored folks' festival luld in
Nonpareil hall on that evening, last
week. "Wo therefore take this opportu
nity to congratulate them upon the suc
cess of the entertainment, which was In
every way highly creditable to them.
The colored minister, Rev. Adam
Smith, G. B. Riley, Esq., the renowned
colored orator, and Revs. Dovore, Dillon
and Eliot, Hon. j. F. Copies and Mrs.
A. J. Duniway each made a short ad
dress. Songs, recitations, dialogues,
readings, etc, etc, were continued to a
late hour, the Suuday -school children
taking prominent parts and acquitting
themselves well. A repast of cakes and
Icecream was served at half-past' nine,
which was quite liberally patronized.

The Marion County Woman Suffrage
Association met Saturday afternoon
pursuant to adjournment and was called
to order by President, Belle V. Cooke.
The minutes of tbe previous meeting
were read and approved.
Before proceeding to business the
President, by permission, read a short
original production explanatory of the
objects of the movement, the many
advantages to the sex which will follow
Its suocoss, and showing the causes of op
position to it The remarks were given
in a manner creditable to tbe author,
calculated to advance the Interest in the
cause, and were well received.
The committee previously appointed
to draft a Constitution ana By Taws
reported by its Chairman, Mr. Strong,
a Constitution and By Laws, the adop
tion of which it recommended with such
amendments as the meeting might see
fit to offer. They were considered by
flections and adopted with a few unim
portant amendments and the filling of
a blank making fifty cents the fee for
membership, excepting section G of By
Laws, relating to the reconsideration
of motions, which was laid on the table.
The opportunity was then given for
those who wished to comefocvard ahd
sign the Constitutiont.and thus become

tunity of which the majority of those
present availed themselves.
As the Constitution which had just
been adopted provided for the election

cers had been elected by acclamation,
Mrs. Price moved that a Committee on
Nominations be appointed to select
names of candidates for presentation at
a meeting to be held one week from

ter: San Francisco, July 2, 15Ti
My Dear lid Friend, Samuel Corwin:
I have no do bt but yon will be much surprised
on receiving his letter, but, perhaps, not more
so, or more r -tifled, than I was to hear from
you. The nv. ner In which I heard from you,
nnd learned . 1 your whereabouts. Is this: I
happened to be looking over an Oregon paper
and noticed your name, as representative elect,
from Tillamook county. The thrill or pleasure
which I expt rienced on reading Is Indescriba
ble. The mnrv acts of klndncfs which I re
ceived at you; hands long years ago had never
I icon lorgottin, notwithstanding our corres
pondence has been broken for seventeen years,
well, Sam, I won't attempt to give you more
than the outlines of what has transpired with
me since we last corresponded. So many Inci
dents of the past, in which you and I were con
nected, crowd ujion my mind that I cannot
think or write nl myself. Does your mind ever
n-vert to the past, when we tlrst met how you
took me in as a partner, when those who
should have been my best friends threw off on
me how wc trot snowed In and had to live on
otatoes slratght for six weeks how (rood that
grizzly meat tasted what a disgraceful retreat
we made from our poor innocent Jack, when
we thought we were beieed by a grlzrlytJ
Well, Sam, those events of 1S.T2 frequeutly fur
nish Mibjec; matter for my thoughts, and. a I
am writing to you, crowd upon my mind, but 1
will dismiss them for the present to give place
to that which will, perhaps, be of greater Inter
est to you.
I pocket . eleven thousand dol lars out of th
"Deep Clnlm"you gave me In Maraposn, and
started for home in June, lbji. I invented tour

Ail i.VLi business in New York city, in which I was very
surreviiii soli! out two years ago, since wnicn
time I have been traveling In European coun
tries. You know I used to have a weaknessfor
traveling well. It has been gratified to my
heart's content. Whll In France I was taken
with the small-pox. The lady of the Inn told
me that I was fortunate to take the disease at
Ihut place, as thi-re was an old small-pox doc
tor uenr by who never failed to cure, no matter
how bad the disease; and sure enough, I began
to recover within four hours aftercoramcnclng
lo take tie medicine, and In twenty-four hours
I felt quite well. I was so much elated with
the iiiaglenl effects of the medicine that I was
determined. If iiosslMe, to obtain the formula.
In which I succeeded, by paying handsomely
and pmmiaiug not lo divulge It In France,
I see from Oregon papers that yon have the
disease among you. The enclosed package
contains tne tormina ana sumcicnt material
for family use. I li:iv- cured all the cases thai
I have come In contael with, and find It an In
fallible cure and preventive. When yon an
swer this I will forwnnl Hiittlcieiit of the mate
rial to make you a fortune, as I have ample,
and rest assured I reciprocate past favon.
I will close fur the procnt and await anx
iously onr answer. Direct to San Francisco,
as; I will remain here about two months.
Yours, etc, ISAAC RICHARDSON.
