The jury in the case of R. C. Baker
vs. B. F. McElroy, yesterday brought
in a verdict in favor of the plaintiff
for $56. It was a civil action involv­
ing the wages of the plaintiff.
The case of Charles Finch vs. John
Stockman, was before the court this
afternoon. This is the case in which
the plaintiff alleges that the defend­
ant struck him on the head with a
large stick and permanently injured
him. It will be remembered as the
case where Stockman ordered some
workmen out of his barn during a
rain st >rm at>«i in the discussion that
ensued struck the plaintiff over the
head with a 4x4 scantling. Stock-
man pleaded guilty to the charge of
assault and paid a fine of $50 and
costs, but the defendant is now suing

Charles Chaney, one of the farm­
ers of the Cold Springs district, fell
from his wagon yesterday afternoon
and both wheels of the vehicle passed
over his head without seriously in­
juring him. While coming Into the

led and Mr. Chaney stooped from his
high seat to loosen It just as the
wheel struck a large rock. The lurch
of the wagon threw Mr. Chaney from

Walter, the little son of Mr and
Mrs. J. W. Williams, who was strick­
en with sciatic rheumatism, was tak­
en to Hot lAke. There the doctor
told Mr. Williams they could do him
no good and advised them to take
him to Walla Walla, where he under­
went a surgical operation.

split his leg and scraped the bone.
The little fellow stood the operation
