On the 24llt of November, Mr. Z. B. Off ens snd wire lost by this dreadful scourge -their only daughter Martha, aged about 9 years. On Monday the 3d of December 4heir little boy Jinunic died, aged about 11 rears, and on Sunday the lCth their -only remaining bay Wm. Bradford agod 1 year, passed away. They hare now but one child left out of four in the last three weeks. Surely some remedy should be provided to check the terrible ravages of -this fearful disease. Prof. Geo. M. Paul, as will be seen un er head of "New To-day," will begin a class in penmanship at this place Jan. the -4th 1878. When it is remembered that this country Is not yet half settled up and that in a few years the crops of wheat and wool will be ten times as great as now, it is impossible to doubt that the new railroad from Weston to the Columbia river, running directly through the heart of the wheat country, will be profitable and its stock a good in vestment, especially as H can be obtained without coin.
