I tact with some items that arc sorrowful to , contemplate; uat lucre is one consolation : 1 it is a necessary event In the progress of the people; and one which we all, torncr1 or later must submit to. The event I have ! reference to in this case, is that of the death of our comrade and highly esteemed citi zen Frank Philips, who died on Monday last. He was buried the day following un der the auspices of tho Fire Department, of which Lc was a faithful member. There arc few men who hare died and left more friends and less enemies than that of whom we hare just alluded. A loring little child named Glllingham died. In tills place yesterday.
