ins made by some of the citizens of Pen
dleton to construct a telegraph line from
tins place to Umatilla, there to connect
vrith the O. S. X. Co.s line-which extends
from Portland to Walla Walla. The rea'e
Is over a country the nature of whleli is
such that the line wonld seldom need rr
pairing, beinjj a prairie country the entire
distance. The importance of such an en
terprise cannot be over-estimated; and
re arc fully satisfied from conversations
liad with a few of Pendleton's energetic
citizens that the line can be easily con
structed if proper efforts are put forth.
The wool, tnillinz and other business In
terests demand that this matter be push--ed
iorward at once.

the live town of Pendle'on and open a fur
niture store of a substantial character.
