Some time tince Adam Stang con conceived tbe idea of investing sufficient means in a brewery that tbe Umatilla county demand might be supplied bj & borne institution. A few weeks since the b re wry had so far progressed in con struction that brewing was begun. The result is that here in Pendleton at the pres. ent time is now made the best lager beer to be found east of the Cascade mountains this is our solid judgment, and we claim to be a tolerable good judge of the article. This evening at seven o'clock Mr. Stang will be ready to receive the public at his Brewery. Let this home institution be sus tained. Mr. Legh Freeman, of the Ogdea Free man, the great railroad man, after bringing the railroad to this place and the Bolae Ba sin, has passed on taking the railroad along in his wake, and we soon expect to hear of the rejoicing of our Baker city, Unloatown, La Grande and other neighbors along the line; over the magnificent feat be has per formed in constructing this long line of road in such a remarkably short space of time. So says the Boise Statesman. Tbe gentleman was in Pendleton; and ia less than a year the railroad alluded to will ran right through town. Lucky we! The Amesicak Yonso Foixa. TfcU splendid picture paper is sow enlarged to sixteen pages and is one of tbe most de lightful Boys' and Girls papers published in the country. It is bright, full ol eater, talnlng and useful reading that a parent stay safely place in the hands of his chil dren. It contains no sensational trash, so destructive to moral principles, but if just the thing the boys and girls will like. It is published for the low price of 50c per year. Address, American Young Folks, Topeka, Kansas. Civr Caesos. Mr. Church, Superin tendent of the Camp Carson mines, was In town this week. From hlsa we learn that as yet there has been no snow at the raises, where usually there is few- or five feet; hence water will not be as plenty as here tofore, still a good run will be made. Tbers will be only about 17 hands engaged this year, just enough to do the necessary min ing, as improvements in the line of ditches, blasting, eta, has all been completed. Itis expected that active mining operatio&s will commence about the 1st of May. Masbieo. At the Umatilla Agency, February 12, 1877, by Iter.
