Last evening ue received the subjoined letter from Mr. Reeve, our pilot, which we publish with great pleasure: Vancouver, May 31, '48. Mr. Currt Sir. I urould wish to speak once more concerning that fatal disaster, the week of the Van couver. In most instances of ship-wreck, there is a great dcalofcxcitement and disturbance, and it is hard to keep order on board in such times. It was not so, however, in the present case for when the Vancouver struck, it was surprising uilh what coolness every thing was carried on. Capt. Mntl and his officers are deserving of much praise for their presence of mind and seaman like conduct, which so distinguished thor ough seamen in the hour of danger. From the hour the ship struck the sands till the boats left to go on shore, there was not an order given that was not in stantly obeyed. There is also much praise due to the seamen who were so ready to execute those orders. Yours, truly, SELAH G. REEVE. Marine. The IT. B.
