DnxBY it Co's Circus. This circus gave two performances hero last Sat urday, at the evening perfcrmanco the tent being crowded to its utmost ca pacity. The performa'icc was fully up to all they advertised and gave gencr al satisfaction. The trapeze nets were good and the vaulting and tumbling was excellent much better than Coin's circus exhibited. Shooting Scrape. Last Sunday Doming as the south bound passen ger train was having Grants Pass three tramps boarded it for a freo ride. Conductor Guthi it; discovered them and put them olFat the next station but as soon as the train started the tramps wire on hoard again. This perform ance was goncthioughwith three times vrhenthe train reached tlio wood station this side of Gold Hill. After wooding up the Conductor again found them on board when he stopped the. train and the train men commenced tiring pistols to scare thsm oil", during which, acci dentally, or otherwise, one of the tramps was shot in tlio thigh, bieak ing his leg. Thw iujuied man was brought to town when Dr. Robinson dressed his leg at the county hospital and ho is now doing quite well. His companions then swoie out a warrant against Frank Guthrie, the conductor of the train, charging him with an as ault with intent to kill, and upon ex amination before Justice Foudray he was bound over in the sum cf 1,000 to apprar before iIih next grand jury. He furnished hail at once and took his train at Medford that night. Parties who seen the franas say there wpre at least twelve shots fired, hut Conductor Guthrie says ho had no pistol ami fired no shot ns he can en si I j prove by tho engineer and fire.nan by whose aide he wasstandinc while the shooting was going on. On the 1 1th inst. a stranger named Jones was mur dered ou White liver in Wasco county and a young man named Charles Henry Hawkins was arrested for the crim ami has since confessed. Residents of this end of the town make a complaint against the trustees for debarr'ng them of the use of the surplus wuter running into the tanks wliila citizens living in the upper portion of town nre allowed to u.e it wIiph wanted. If thero is a surplus of water it should bn divided up, otherwi-o they should. all be placed on the same footing. An arrangement for an increased supply of water to be used for sprinkling streets would be the best- way to settle this matter nnd would be satisfactory nnd beneficial to all concerned. Max well first discovered tho dog, a very large one, lying on the log, and also saw what ho supposed to be another California lion, that section being full of wild animals, and had no idea that there were any persons in tho vicinity. Moving around to obtain a good shot at the animal, ho succeeded in sending a bullet through the dog's neck, with in a few inches of tho squaw's arm which rrsted on tho dog.
