Had to Bear It. Last week An
tone Rose, ditch tender for the Sterling
mining company, killed a small bear
which he succeeded in getting on the
"oavuse" in pretty good shape but from
seme cause .was obliged to take it off
to re-pack it. "While taking the bear
his arms to lift it on the saddle, the
pony made a flank movement, planted
both heels in the bear that covered
JLntone'a diajwagham, sent them both
rolling fifty feet down the hill and
broke for home. Antone put the bear
en his back and when he arrived in
camp seat to .town for a porous plaster
nearly tho aixe of his vest and aays the
next time he uses a bear for a stomach

Stkajoht Whiskt. We clip from
tie Nevada Daily Transcript of Janu
ary 26th as follows:
.As a great deal has been said about
John L. Burns and Davenport whisky
in the Transcript, it will not be out of
place to mention the fact that Mr. Bums
Iras made one of the most important
aales of fine liquors yet effected in the
county, to Mr. Mike Hanley of Neva
da City.
We understand that Mr. Hanley
has made a purchase of some of the
most expensive straight whisky that
has ever come into the county. John
L. Burns, agent for the celebrated
''Davenport," has bean most fortunate
H making such a fine dale' to such a
seeponsible gentleman as Mr. Hanley,
who has the reputation of keeping the
finest liquor in the .county. When
thjs invoice of straight whisky arrives
Mr. Hanley can look for an increase of
trade.
