London, April 20. The jury in the case of MacLean, th crank who at tempted to assassinate the queen, has returnod a verdict of not guilty on the ground of insanity. After tho jury rendered tho verdict it was- ordered that MacLean be detained irn custody during her majesty's pleasure.- Delib eration of the jury occupied five min ues. London. April 21. Charles Robert Darwin, the noted scientist,, died yer- terday. lie had MifFored'for sometime from weakness of the heart, but con tinued to work to the last. He was taken ill Tuesday night with pains in tho chest, faintness and nausea, which lasted more or less during Wednesday and culminated in his death, ia the af ternoon.
