s THE OREGON SENTINEL THE LAW OF NEWSPAPERS 1. Subscriber who do not glre exprtis notice to be contrary, rn considered as wishing t continue hetr Hobscrlptlone. 2. If any enbicribers order the dtoontlmitiiiee of their newipapere. the publisher mar contlune to vend them until all arrearages are paid. 8. Iloabecribers neglect or refuse to take their newspapers from tbe offices to which they are di rected, the law holds them responsible uutil they bare settled the bills, and ordered them discontinued 4. If subscribers remove to other places without Informing the publisher, and thnnewspapers are sent to the farmer direction, they are held responsible. 6. The Conrts hare decided that refusing to tale newspapers from this office, or removing and leav ing them uncalled for, is prima facie evidence of In tentional fraud. 6. The postmaster who neglects to give legal no tice of tbe neglect of a person to take fmm the office the newspaper addrevsed to him, is liable to the pub lisher for the sutwcripilon price. OBECO.Y S. CALHOU.MA. If there is any one thing more sur prising than another, it is 'concerning public opinion and general information as to the relative advantages of Ore gon and California. In looking over the eastern papers, we see California referred to and the advantages commen ted upon ten times when wo see a men tion made of Oregon, Is it because .JMlBWM'SSlgSW, -1 ad3,315, 789 acres of wheat which yielded 9.5 per acre, while Oregon sowed but 344,750 acres that yielded 20 bushels per acre, and all other crops in about the same proportion making a difference of about 11 bushels, or mora than double the amount per acre All that is want ing in our judgment, or that is neces sary to do is to lay such truths as these before the world; and Oregon will, as she deserves, rank first as an agri cultural State of the Union. We have not selected the item of wheat, because the difference in yield is greater than others; but lecause it is looked upon as the most valuable. The same year California produced -ten per cent, less than a ton of hay to the acre, while Oregon gave her ton and a half. Piano on Okoan for Sale.
