He was in default of bail com mitted to prison to await the .action of the grand jury. The next excitement was .the trial of Diok 3Ioore for an as sault tmdlbattery on Zimmerman Zi ler. .That Dick had pounded him was an evident fact, and it was equally cvi dent,'that in a moral point of view, ",sold'Zig." deserved all ho got, but it "Iras' a breach of the peace and Dick "was fined $10 and costs. On Thursday Henry Baily was up before Judge Wade on a complaint of an assault with intont to'kill Dick Moore on Tuesday night last; and also two Chinamen, Hung Woo Und Lee Hung, on a charge of Tobbing Karewski's store on the nightf ol the fire at Bybee's. As no "prosecutor appeared against Leo Hung he Was discharged, on motion of his at torneys. ' Baily's examination came off Thursday and Friday. He was bound over to next term of Circuit Court which, meets. the 2d -Monday in next month. Hun Wo was also eiarained and acquitted Sekiol's 'Affrat. Last Tuesday filch a man bv the name of Henrv Bai- 'y, stabbed Richard II. Moore in the baetjinsTJ below the left shoulder, the knife blade thence glancing in the di rection of tbe nghV'arm pit, inflicting an ugly but it is thought not danger- ous wound. He also struck Moore on the head with a stone causing quite a wound. The Marshall came up and lescued Moore who was already faint from loss of blood, and took him to the Franco American Hotel, where he still lies. Baily was arrested next morning and bound over for an assault w ith in 'tenttokill. Baily's jealousy of his wife is .the alleged cause. I -o , A Fine Gatidex. Erst come first served. We insert a few certificates from the Atlantic State",' where it has been tested with all the improved oats of the day. With us the yield has been for every bushel sown more than three times the amount bt grain that we get from the old oat. We would state alo that these oats are valuable to the farmer on this Coat for hay. as we have nothing that will equal it ln.quantity or quality- j"om R. II. IIvde, rraidcTd of the Orange Caun 4jjr, Vermont, Jgncuttural Society. No man in tht country ba taken a greater interest in progressive farmiug, or is better known for his sterling- Integrity than llr. Hyde. He rijs: 'I take great pleasure In adding my testimo ny to that of hundreds of others in this and other States, as to the advantages to be gained by mtetituting your Norway Oats for the old kinds. Their ability to produce more than twice as many bushels to the acre, and their hardiness and thrifty growth. Tendering them less liable to be destroyed by storm or disease, are points which no intelligent farmer can over look. The question to be decided by termers is not nlethT they can afford to buy the fcfed, but rather, can they afford to continue to ploiv and cultivate their land for 30 or 40 bushels to the acre, weighing 30 lbs. or less to the bushel, nben they can just as well raise 100 bushels .weighing 40 to -15 lbs per bushel on the same ground wun me same laoor. "I can recommend them to the farmers as be ing all that jou claim tor them, and am glad to Know that you wjll be able to supply tbem to a larger extent the coming season than .hereto fore."' From Uos. Geo. W. Tnoiw.aAirjy, Vi J. The result of my experiments this seaon 18C8 with the Norway Oats have been fully up to my expectationsanaj am satisfied, 'jbat they are well adapted to our soil, and that every farmer who possibly can. should get the seed. The substitution of the Norway O its for the common and deteriorated kinds now gen eraliy raised, h a matter of rat importance to our farming interests ; to increase the annual yield, even a small pel cent , would be regard ed as a great success, but to double the crops at once, as I believe we ray do by us,ing this seed, is an advantage which rhould bo immedi ately understood by the farming community, to raiea field of oats the stalks of which eland six feet high, with well filled head oTer twelve incuts long, and yielding 100 bushels to the acre. i an accomplishment of which any farmer would feel proud, and I believe we can do this with the Norway Oats. " ' From Hox. Oiunce Coxstocx, WxstFarlee, ft., , tyUV.JSCS.,, ( . 1 have this day examined some Norway Oats grown by V.Xl. Robinson of this pluce.
