As a remedy for the sea-sickness
which besets the voyager on his way
lo and frprajCaliforniaandfdr thft dis
orders which assail the unacclimated
emigrant in the unhealthy districts of
the interior, HOSTETTERS STOM
ACH BITTERS will be found equally
efficacious. On no1 part of the conti
nent has the value of this pure vegeta
ble elixir, as a specfic for epidemic dis
eases, been so clearly demonstrated, as
in the new States and Territories lying
contiguous to the Pacific Ocean. As
a means of preventing the distressing
and dangerous attack of fever, and the
dysenteric and diairliceal complaints
which are engendered by poison in the
air, or by the use of water containing
a mineral or vegetable taint inimical
to health, it is confessedly superior to
any other tonic and alterative in the
world. It acts as a preventive agent
by strengthening and exhilarating the
whole physical organization, and pro
ducing a regular habit of body. All
that the human svstem requires, to en
able It to resist the deleterious affects
of malaria, is incrersed igoi and vital
activity, and these are the inevitable
resnlts of a course ofthi celebrated
tcnio and corrective. It promotes ap
petite, facilitates digestion, controls
the liver, regulates the bowels, braces
the nerves superinduces sound and
wholesome'sleep, invigorates without
exciting thepnls, fi"d impartsbuoyan
cy to the animil xpiriC". The body and
mind -toned and cheered by its genial
operation, are in a condition to repeal
all exterior influences which &nd to
produce disease. Flux, dysentery,
ious remittents, chills and lever, r.nei
matism, &c, are almost always caused
by atmostpheric poion acting upon 'an
unfortified system. Brace up the organ
ism, and cheer the spirits, with this
wholesome medicited stimulant, and
then neither the malaria generated by
the filth of crowded cities, nor the ex
halation of new soils, nor the vapid ua-tcrv-pts
springless region, will be likely
to produce any serious consequences.
