DAVIDSON DRIBLETS.
Placer miners are jubilant over the
prospect for an early run of water.
The Davidson Bros, are preparing
to do some extensive mining this win
ter, as are also Miller & Savage.
The heavy nin commenced falling
this month on the same day that it
did last year, and appears to be keep«
ing up with the record of last winter’s
rainfall.
C. T. Davidson and W. H. Miller,
miners from Jacksonville, are in our
midst this week visiting, and inad
vertently combining business with
pleasure. ,
The bountiful crop of acorns on the
low bills and in the valleys this fall is
not only appealing to the appetite of
our swine, but is inducing bruin to
come down from “ye lofty peaks’’ and
join the hogs in the harvest. Some
of our bear hunters, howeyer, are
challenging the hairy man’s right to
disturb the peace, and as a conse
quence bear-meat is on the fall. Joe
and Lee York and John Meek cap
tured a large black one, which, when
dressed, weighed over 300 pounds; al
so Fred Miller and the Davidson
Bros, tcok in another fully as large.
J. M. Retallac, formerly from Idaho,
and a practical miner, who is now
permanently located in this district,
will do some thorough mining in the
development of the old Homestake
ledge, owned by W. S. Bailey. He re
cently bought the James Owens’ farm.
The estate of the late Henry York
is being administered on. A com
plaint was filed, asking for the re
moval of the administrator, A. S.
York; but aV the bearing held last
week Judge Booth decided that the
evidence produced did not justify his
removal.
Some idiotic scoundrel, who is to be
pitied rather than hated, his been
playing havoc with private dwelling
houses and miners* cabins in this lo
cality at tim s during the past year.
The house on the Big Mountain mine
was entered,and almost torn to pieces;
also the house of H. D. Kubli,situated
on his farm in this vicinity, has the
window sash and facing, door, etc.,
all smashed up, and other petty crim
inal work done. It is believed by
some that the guilty party has been
located, and there may be a surprise
party held s >me day before his honor,

Proverbs
“ When the butter won’t
come put a penny in the
churn,” is an old time dairy
proverb. It often seems to
work though no one has ever
told why.
When mothers are worried
because the children do not
gain strength and flesh we
say give them Scott’s Emul
sion.
It is like the penny in the
milk because it works and
because there is something
astonishing about it.
Scott’s Emulsion is simply
a milk of pure cod liver oil
with some hypophosphites
especially prepared for delicate
stomachs.
Children take to it naturally
because they like the taste
and the remedy takes just as
naturally to the children be
cause it is so perfectly adapted
to their wants.
For all weak and pale and
thin children Scott’s Emulsion
is the most satisfactory treat-
ment.
We will send you
the penny, /. c., a
sample free.
