JACKSONVILLE, OREGON, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3, 1903.
BRIEF MENTION.
GEORGE W. DUTCALT
How He Extricated Himself From
A Serious Difficulty.
How George W. Oatcalt, a well-known
merchant of Wellston, Oklahoma, re
cently succeeded in extricating himself
from a serious difficulty is one of the in
teresting stories now going the rounds
of the i<apers.
••I had been working very hard,” he
mys in telling the story. “ For a long
tune 1 had given almost every moment
of my attention to my business and I did
not notice what effect this was having
on me. But, finally, I saw that my
health was giving way—I was getting
thin, was always tired and easily out of
breath; my bl<sxl was poor, my stomach
bad. Every now and then I would be
dizzy and any little exertion would ex
haust me completely. In short, I was
all run-down.
“Then one day I saw an advertisement
which led me to try Dr. Williams* Pink
Pills for Pale People. They acted like
magic. I felt better in a few days. My
flesh came back till I regained my nor
mal weight, my appetite returned and
my general, health is now better than it
bad been for many years. I have recom
mended Dr. Williams’ Pink Pills to
mauy of my friends and am glad of this
opportunity to tell what the remedy has
done for me. ”
What Dr. Williams* Pink Pills for
Pale People did for Mr. Outcanlt'they
will do for others similarly afflicted.
They are different from ordinary med
icine because they act directly on the
blood and nerves. They have cured
stubborn cases of locomotor ataxia, par
tial paralysis, St. Vitus’ dance, sciatica,
neuralgia, rheumatism, nervous head
ache, the after-effects of the grip, palpi
tation of the heart, pale and sallow com
plexions and all forms of weakness either
in male or female. If you are sick and
your doctor cannot cure you, write us
and we will tell vou honestly and frank
ly whether Dr. Williams' Pink Pills are
suited for your case. We will not recom
mend the pills in eases which we do not
believe they will cure.
Dr. Williams'Piuk Pills for Pale People
are sold by all dealers, or will be sent
postpaid on receipt of price, fifty cents a
box, or six boxes for two dollars and
fifty cents (they are never sold in bulk
or by the hundred) by addressing Dr.
Williams Medicine Company, Seheuec

An Entertainment Rare in
Southern Oregon.
The concert given at Medford by Sig
Boffa and bis company Thursday night
was a rare musical treat. The attend
ance was small, we are sorry to say,
for the affair deserved a crowded
house. All who were present were
highly delighted with the efforts of
tbe performeis and speak in highest
terms of the splendid program ren
dered. Nothing excelling it has ever
been attempted here.
Mias Bertina Boffa, as violin soloist,
performed her numbers in a masterly
manner, showing wonderful technic,
especially in “Tarantelle,” which was
a revelation. Tbeyouthful artist was
liberally encored.
Madame Boffa chai med the audience
with her difficult songs. She really
belongs to tbe grand 0|>era.
“Ave Maria,” by Bacb-Gounod, in
terpreted by Bertina Boffa, violin;
Hazel Enyart, harp; J<.unesse Butler,
organ; Mme. D. Boffa, soprano, was
a beautiful eosemble performance that
r fleeted much credit on tbe partici
pants.
Mies Abby Kendall, a clever pianist
and experienced musician, gained new
laurels.
The members of the orat' rio chorus
may well be proud of themselves. They
did exceedingly well In their first at
tempt in that work, cf which we hope
to bear much more.
The overture of "William Tell,”
which is very deep, was sk’lifully per
formed under the direction of big.
Boffa. The assemblage, Judging by its
enthusiastic applause, seemed to un
derstand its value.
Spring Humors
Come to most people and cause many
troubles,—pimples, boils and other
eruptions, besides loss of appetite,
that tired feeling, fits of biliousness,
indigestion and headache.
The sooner one gets rid of them the
better, and the way to get rid of them
and to build up the system that has
suffered from them is to take

distressing accident, while engaged at

agony, and it was feared for a while
that his sight would ba lost, as be
has only one ejo. Dr. Par oa was
called and removed tbe pieces
of babbitt metal from his eye
lids. He found that the retina had
not been pierced, and it is believed
that Mr. Wild’s sight will be saved.
