That is a pertinent question which confronts every business man sooner or later. In the millions of dollars spent annually there is undeniable proof that it pays; but “how can I make it apply to my business?” is the question which touches most closely home. So many instances there are that advertising pays that it is waste of time to touch upon it further in that direction. The first question to be considered by a business man is a pa per’» circulation, and if it reaches the «■lass of people with whom he can do business. The next step is to see that his adv. is displayed in an attractive manner, so that it is sure to be read, Otherwise his money is thrown away. Then he must change his adr. often enough so that it will not lose inter- est. Advertising is a business, It should ■be studied as such. The haphazard sort, hit or miss, amounts to just the same thing as though the business man employed such methode in all business transactions. The man who gives the question careful thought is a successful advertiser. NO LUCK ABOUT IT. make it possible for all who desire to de BO to spend their vacation by the ocean waves, the Southern Pacific Company, in connection with the Corvallis and Eastern Railroads, will place on sale, effective June 15th, 1902, round-trip tickets from all points in Oregon on the Southern Pacific to Newport, good for return until October 10th, at Specially .reduced rates—*13.30. Consumption is a tigei among diseases. It is stealthy —but once started it rapidly eats up the flesh and destroys the life. No use to go hunting it with ordinary food and med icine. That's only bird-shot. It still advances. Good heavy charges of Scott’s Emulsion will stop the advance. The disease feels that. Scott's Emulsion makes the body strong to resist. It soothes and toughens the lungs and sustains the strength until the disease wears itself out. There is no luck about advertising, no chance, no scheme. It is legitimate, straightforward business from begin ning to end, from the day the cam paign is started dear up to the close of the business at the finish.
