ÇJemoGratÎG tyimes. Printed Every Thursday, at Jackson ville, Oregon, by laws mistakenly supposed of the high est importance, some of them openly framed for popularity, have been vetoed by the people after they nave been offered to the electorate. This result, as Maine explains, is sufficient ly intelligible. It is possible by agi tation and exhortation to produce in the mind of the average citizen a vague impression that he desires a par ticular change. But when the aglta- tation has settled down to the dregs; when the subject has been threshed out, when the law Is before him with all its detail, he is sure to find much in it that is likely to disturb his ideas, bis habits, bis prejudices or his in terests, and so in the long run he votes “No.” Josephine County Demo cratic Ticket.
