Did you ever compare a delicious, flak;ty, delicately browned loaf of bread made from Snowy Butte Flour With the sad results achieved from the use of cheaper flour? The one, the highest triumph of cookery—the most useful of all the arts; the other, a monument to wasted energy, blasted hojies and poor judgment. But why continue the compari son? Jewels, candy, flowers, man—that is the order of a woman’s preferences. Jewels form a magnet of mighty power to the average woman. Even that greatest of ail lewels, health, is often ruined in the strenuous efforts to make or save the money to pur chase them. If a woman will risk her health to get a coveted jewel, then let her fortify herself against the Insid- uous consequence« of coughs, cold« and bronchical affections by the reg ular use of Dr. Boscbee’« German Syrup. It will promptly arrest con sumption in its early stages and heal the affected lungs and bronchical tubes, and drive the bread disease from the system. It is not a cure-all but it is a certain cure for coughs, colds and all bronchical troubles. You can get Dr. G. G. Green’s reliable remedies at City Drug Store. Ge Green’s Special Almanac. After tbe haggling and delay of many weeks, it is now said that tbe full ransom demanded for tbe release of Miss Stone must be paid before she will be set free. Evidently her efforts to convert the mercenary disciples of Mahomet who hoid her in captivity have been as fruitless of results as the diplomatic arts of Consul Dickinson. The suggestion that the United States government pay the demand in full t and thus end a very perplexing situa- J tion will hardly be adopted. The scarcity 01 tbe Mongolian pheasant 1» marked in Linn county, where they have always been more numerous than in any other portion of the state. At the beginning of tbe open season tbe birds were never more plentiful, But thousands have been killed this season, and they are comparatively scarce. The Illegal hunting of these birds is also an im portant factor in lessening their num bers. It Is a fact that some farmers kill the birds at all times of the year. So far has the fame of this splendid game bird spread tnat a great number of sportsmen come to Lion county every year to bunt at the beginning of the open season. Many hunters come from Washington «nd Califor nia, and sometimes there are hunters here from tbe East. ’ COMMERCIAL FAMILY ORCHARDS TO DEALERS AND NURSERYMEN and cheerfulness soon disappear when the kid neys are out of order or diseased. If the child urin- _____ . ates too often, if the urine scalds the flesh or If, when the child reaches an age when It should be able to control the passage, it Is yet afflicted with bed-wetting, depend upon It. the cause of the difficulty is kidney trouble, and the first step should be towards the treatment of these important organs. This unpleasant trouble is due to a diseased condition of the kidneys and bladder and not to a habit as most people suppose. Women as well as men are made mis erable with kidney and bladder trouble, and both need the same great remedy. The mild and the immediate effect of Swamp-Root is soon realized. Barnum's Monkeys ‘'All well—all happy—lots of fun”. That is the regular report from the monkey cage of Barnum’s Circus ever since the keepers began dosing the monkeys with Scott’s Emul sion. Consumption was carry ing off two thirds of them every year and the circus had to buy new ones. One day a keeper accident" ally broke a bottle of Scott’* Emulsion near the monkey cage and the monkeys eagerly lapped it up from the floon This suggested the idea that it might do them good. Since then the monkeys have received regular doses and the keepers report very few deaths from consumption. Of course it’s cheaper to buy Scott’s Emul sion than new monkeys—and that suits the circus men. Consumption in monkeys and in man is the same disease.
