But It seems that Professor Koch'*
declaration that tuberculosis Is not
hereditary is the final word on tliis
question. For some years the leading
physicians of the world have been
adopting this opinion. The professor
said In his address that the cause of
the spread of consumption was the
sputum of those suffering from the
malady, and he advocated isolation of
al! patients in free hospitals.

Robert E. Wright, who ban tx-i-n
brought into public view as the proba­
ble successor of the late Albert I.. John­
son, the deceased president of the Le­
high Traction company. Is a lawyer,
banker and business organizer of Allen­
town. whose fame extends far beyond
tlie city of ills home. Mr. Wright was
born in Allentown on Feb. 15, 184S, fits
father having l>een a prominent lawyer.
Mr. Wright, after ills admission to the
bar In 18(58, Joined with his father in
the legal business, but soon became
conspicuous in the development of in­
dustrial and financial enterprises.
In 1M8C> lie became president of the
Allentown National bank, one of the
leading and successful establishments
of Its kind in the Lehigh valley. He
also served as the professional adviser
of the I.eliigh Valley, the Reading anil
the New Jersey Central railroad com­
panies. Lately he lias been associated
with the “Johnson syndicate,” In which
the famous Cleveland brothers were
leaders, in trolley development. His
election to the head of the Lehigh Val­
ley traction enterprise would be a nor­
mal ami natural continuation of his re­
cent and past activities.
