The title, Queen of Tramps, is given to f xe woman who walked from Bangor to I Kansas City and back. She was three years a X it, and her routo was far from direct, be i at; varied by her wandering inclinations. •’ She worked a little on the way, but geuer- ally lived by begging and stealing. A novelty was at last accounts exteu- * sfvely sold in Paris streets. It was a pic ture with four heads, those of Queen Victoria and tho Emperor of Austria being on the top, and those of the Czar and Sultan Wow. .By folding the picture four times the united heads formed an ingenious picture of Bis marck. “Dolly” Madison, wife of the President, was a housekeeping, domestic body, but so popular that an art of Congiess was passed unanimously conferring upon her the franking privilege for life, and the Senate unanimously adopted a resolution admit ting her to the lloor of its chamber. She was the only woman upon whom these honors were ever conferred. A most wonderful treasure deposit has been discovered in Montana, It is up in the mountains somo twenty miles from Helena. A shaft fifteen feet square has been sunk fifty feet deep; and out of this hole above §60,000 have been mined, The metal is gold, and tho ore does not fall be low §850 a ton. Much of it goes above §1,000. Its extent as prospected indicates that it xnaybo the richest mine in the world.
