The citizens of Ashland have taken
preliminary steps toward celebrating
the coming Fourth of July in appro
priate style. A meeting has been held
and a committee of 25 ladies apfioint-
ed to make all necessary arrangements.
We think that if 25 ladies can’t devise
ways and means of celebrating our
Centennial Fourth in style, there is no
such thing as celebrating it appropri
ately. We have a great advantage in
locality over other town«, having a
fine grove and a flowing stream ot
water, and last but not least, hospit
able citizens. We have since learned
that a late meeting of the General
Committee resulted in the choice of
Mrs. Goodchild.* as Orator of the day,
and Miss Kate Thornton, Reader.
