Conundrum by the Boston Post: “How can a man spend $2,000 for rent and $5,000 for diamonds, and $16,000 for running expenses, besides having a trotter or so, on $5,000 a year salary?” The average Republican office-holder can easily answer that. More lambs die when less titan twelve hours old than at any other time, and if the farmer wishes to increase the numlier of his sheep, he must watch his flock very closely until the lambing season is past. Unless tho new l»orn lambs receive prompt attention there is dan ger that they will get chilled and live but a short time. If tho sheep havo been well fed, and aro kept in a warm I place, almost every lamb can ho saved, and without any great amount of trou ble. A few minutes’ attention at tho right time may save tho life of a lamb, which in a few months, and at small expense, can bo made worth several dollars, At lambing timo the sheep should be closely watched, and if there are any lambs that are unablo to take care of themselves they should be assisted. After they have sucked a few times they will generally get along very well. Not only should the sheep be looked to during tho day, but also in the evening, as feeble Iambs will not be likely to live until morn ing.
