A Democratic Count v Convention for Jackson county is hereby called to be held at tho Court House in Jacksonville on Saturday, May 13. 1878, at I o’clock c. m ., for the nomination of a full legislative and county ticket and for the transaction of such other business as may properly come l>efore it. It is recommended that tin* primary meet ings in the various precincts tor the election <>t delegates to the County Convention be held at the usual places of voting on .’Satur day, May 6, 1*76, at 1 o’clock i*. m . The citizens of Kerbyville were re cently delighted with sundry perform ances by the Centennial Minstrel Troupe of Williamsburg. This com pany intended visiting other points, but it is said that Grant telegraphed to the manager that he tvould take his post office away from him unless he attended to it, and their hopes were blighted. We aro promised a new tailor in Jacksonville. John Weiss has some cabbage and tomato plants for sale. The County and Probate Courts were in session this week. Those indebted to the T imes office will please settle up immediately. Dr. Modisette, of Ashland, will shortly leave on a visit to California. Newman Fisher is Postmaster ad interim during the absence of Max Muller. Full proceedings of the Democratic State Convention will be found on our first page. Mrs. John Weiss has our thanks for some fine caulifl >wer laid on our table this week. Ben Haymond, of Rock Point, left last week for San Francisco to lay in a new stock of goods. John Boyer, D. D. G. M., will start Sunday for Kerbyville to institute a lodge of Odd Fellows there. Our old friend, James Lawrence, is down from Ashland on a visit to his many friends in Jacksonville. Judge^Prim, II.
