STATE OF OREGON. NO. 15. To the C entennial E xposition . —The Chicago and North-Western Railway will, on and after May 1st, 187G, until October 31st, 1876, have on sale in all its coupon ticket offices, (in cluding its two ticket offices at Omaha), round trip excursion tickets to Phila delphia and New York and return for Centennial visitors. These tickets, for the round trip, will be sold for one and one-half of the usual rate for a trip one way. They will be of two classes, but will be sold at the same rates. One class of tickets will be good, East of Chicago, going and returning by the same route, and the other class will be good, East of Chicago, going by one route and returning by another, thus offering to the purchasers a choice of routes and chances to see various parts of the country. Neither cars nor trains will be chartered for excursion parties going to the Centennial by this or any other road, nor will the rates be less per per son for parties large or small. Every person going will have to pay the same rate as his neighbor. No other road will be permitted to sell round trip tickets for the Centennial at any less rate than is quoted above. Re duced rate tickets reading only to the Exposition will not be sold, and the rates made are for the full round trip. All agents of the Chicago and North- Western Railway will, in due time, be fully advised as to the rates from their stations for these Centennial tickets, and will, after April 1st, 1876, be glad to answer all inquiries in regard to them. T he O regon R ailroads . — The agent of the German bondholders of the Oregon railroad has arrived at San Francisco and intends visiting Oregon in reference to the road. The Chroni cle having interviewed the agent, Mr. Villard, it was ascertained that $11,- 000,000 of the bonds are held in Ger many, and that they made an arrange ment with Holladay to receive $50,000 a year, one-half payable every six months. Holladay made but one pay ment, and the agent, by compromise, has taken the Oregon and California ar.d Oregon Central roads; also the steamship line. The bondholders will continue the steamship line as before, and expect to purchase two new steam ships in New York to be added to those now in use. In reference to the railroads the agent said : “Nothing definite has yet been decided upon. We have a road built as far as 200 miles south of Portland, and the Cen tral Pacific have built 180 miles north of Sacramento. I have been making negotiations with the company for some time, and we hope to make an arrangement with them to complete the road by joint effort. We would be glad to have them take it off our hands. It may be that we shall com plete our road to the State line, run ning our company separately, but what will be done I really can’t tell, as nothing is yet determined upon. There is at present, and has been for the last four years, a gap of 350 miles of ground to be surveyed and prepared and track to be laid before the road will be finished.” There will be no tickets at the Cen tennial.
