Olmstead was told that fish altounded in the lake, but what varieties he did not learn. Ducks and geese and gulls fairly swarmed over and around the lake. The hills around were generally des titute of timber, but covered with a splendid growth of bunch gras«. The entire country through which they passed after leaving Lost river was a splendid range, on which but few cat tle or horses or sheep have as yet I grazed. Some parts of the country, and particularly some of the mountain sides, are pretty rocky, but still the rockiest portions are covered with a rich growth of bunch grass. RATES OF ADVERTISING.
