It is said the force expended by that lawyer in sneezing would have sufficed to have run a windmill for a week. SU BSC R I BE p Nt. THE JACKSONVILLE I A young lady who let her eye-lids drop on being spoken to tenderly by a young gentleman is anxious to recover them, and otters a handsome reward for their restoration, as they were the first pick out of a fine lot. A Connecticut sexton prevents the con gregation from shifting about and chang ing seats by dextrously applying a gob of pitch to their persons as they enter the sanctuary. He says “The church is no place to fool around in.” Two sisters, Cassie and Victor a Foster, natives of Hampton, N. 8., may well claim the title of champion light-weights of the world, Cassie, ten years old, weighing twelve pounds, and Victoria, four years old, six pounds. A sewing circle was quickly broken up at Gardiner, Me., the other day by the following innocent remark of a lady pres sent : “I always had a great desire to know how a case of small-pox looked, so I «ailed on a -ick lady this afternoon, just before coming to the circle.” A charitable lady of St. Ixiuis sent one of her last year’s dresses to a destitute woman last month. She was somewhat surprised to have it returned with the statement that it was to full behind for the present style, and would she take out a breadth and change the trimming. One of the digusting sights of Salem, Indiana, was a woman wheeling her drunken husband home on a wheelbar row. In answer to a sympathizing re mark, she said he happened to be drunk er than she was, ami she was thankful to be able to take care of him, for she knew he would do the same for her. A genuine Yankee at Lisbon, Ct., wanting to put a water-pi|»e through a drain several feet below the surface with out digging up the drain, tied a string to a cat’s leg, thrust her into one end of the drain, and giving a terrific “scat the feline quickly appeared at the other end.
