^tmornitiç ©imes. SHERIFF’S SADE Y virtue of a tax-warrant placed in my hands for the purpose of collecting the delinquent taxes due Jackson county, State of Oregon, for the year 1871, and to mo directed, I will, on B SATURDAY MORNING. JUNE 1, 1872 •TATE DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM. Retolved, T. That we, the Democratic party of the State of Oregon, are pledged to a strict con struction of the Constitution, the restoration and preservation of the rights of the States to regulate their internal affairs, an<l especially the elective franchise, free from the control or interference of the General Government; the protection of indi vidual rights in accordance with the fundamental laws of the land, ineluding the rights to the writ of habeas corpus, trial by jury and freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures. 2. That we are opposed to every species of cor ruption in all departments of the Municipal, State and National Governments. 3. That our motto is, no privileged classes and no privileged capital. 4. That we are in favor of a tariff to raise mon ey only for the necessary expenses of the Federal Government, and not for the benefit of monopolists. 5. That we view with alarm the flagrant and open violation of the Constitution by the party now con trolling the General Government, in tho passage and enforcement of the Reconstruction and Ku- Klux laws, and the corruption and fraud which characterize their administration of every Depart ment of Government, and we pledge ourselves to use al! lawful and peaceable means to secure a speedy ecrrection of these outrages and usurpations. 6. That the freedom, welfare and rights of the people are superior to the interests of incorpora tions, and should be protected against the exactions of oppressive monopolies. 7. That we favor the appropriation of the fund arising from the sale of swamp lands to purposes of internal improvements and the aid of common schools. 8. That the construction of locks at the Falls of the Willamette is a judicious and effective safeguard of the commerce of the Willamette Valley, and wo favor legislation to the end that the commerce of the Columbia river may be in like manner benefit- ted and protected. 9 That the thanks of the people of Oregon are due our present State Administration for its success ful efforts in securing to the State the grants of land which otherwise would have fallen into the hands of grasping corporations. r* O X c- e cr CD "d B CD ■ Will sew everything needed In a family, from tàe heaviest to the lightest fabric. aq IT IM»£N MORE WtlH’i, MOKE KINIM OF WORK, tr* AND Hl.rilLK WORK, CD p o H 5 O Qj Thau any other machine. This horso (and mare, “Joan of Arc,” which died before I shipped) was selected in France in 1870, by one of the best judges of this stock in that country. Since tho public have seen “White Prince” at our County Fair, he has grown and spread so his former friends hardly know him. While East the past winter, in conversation with intelligent horse-breeders, several of them in formed me that they had stood aloof from the Percheron or Norman horses, thinking them too heavy for travel or ordinary use; but after having seen the grade-colts and fillies come to maturity, and seen them in use, they are willing to breed to them ; and wherever they have been introduced they have given universal satisfaction. I have been at great expense and risk in mak ing the abovo importations, and have no doubt that if the horse-breeders of this and adjoining counties patronize the above horse« and take prop er care of the colts, we will show, in a few years, a class of horses not inferior to any on the coast. At the County Fair of 1873, I will give a set of silver table spoons for the best lot of colts owned and bred by one party from “White Prince” and “Napoleon the II.” Terms, $15, due during the season ; and $15 when the mare is known to be with foal or parted with. I have made my terms reasonable, so that none need complain. I do not think any other person would go to the expense and risk to secure as good imported horses for anything like thesamo terms. I expect to have shortly an illustrated descrip- ' tive catalogue and a large engraving of my stock. My colts I had at our County Fair last fall keep the same form, and have grown well. Call and see the stock and be your own judge as to their merit. I will secure pasture at fair rates to accommodate mares from a distance. W. C. MYER. Ashland, Ogn., March 6th, 1872.
