T hird S treet B ridge .—The su’jcct of building a bridge over Rich Gulch, where it crosses Third Street, has been agitated, at intervals, for years. About two years ago the Hoard was petitioned to build this bridge; but for some reason no action was taken in the matter. Some weeks since the B >ard appointed a committee to inquire into the ne cessity of such a bridge and report tho e; st, plan Ac ; but the committee se.em in no hur ry about making their report. It cannot be a nkitter of economy that is frightening off the report, for th’ev have favored other im- provenv nts lately made, needed less, and far more expensive. It cannot be that they are fearful of nnrring the beauty of the scenery in that locality, by blending art and nature— bridging the ugly chasm across Third Street, —which causes them to hesitate. It must be, then, a question of utility ; and a glance at the situ »lion ought to satisfy nr.y that the bridge would be of public utility, and of esp“eia! convenience to the southern portion of the town. Lot us trust, therefore, that the C-mmittee will make favorable report at the next meeting of the Board, and that the bri lge w.li be ordered built.
