near McMinnville a little three ) ein
old eon of Mr. E. II. Gauison, who
ia a brother of Mr. A. II. Garrison in
this county, was buinod to dfoth.
The little fellow was playfully run
jriing through the ashes aud embers
cf a brush pile that had just been
burnt and his clothes caught afire and
before aid could bo rendered
he was literally roasted to death, dy
ing in about three h urs, and suffer
ing terrible agony.

their pastor for ono year. He accepted their
invitation, arrived in Forest Grove the hit
ter part of December, and entered npon his
work the beginning of January 75. Since
which time be has fulfilled the duties ot his
office with singular ability, aud ia gecerul
with great acceptance. Th congregations
bave been fall aud attentive, and during
the first part of the year 75, deep religions
interest was manifested, eoniniencing in the
series of meetings held here by Gen. O. O.
Howard, and continuing for several weeks.

the Sabbath school under the charge of
Prof. J. W. Marsh has much advanced both
in efficiency and numbers during bis min
istry. ' And it may be with propriety said
here that the Sabbath school from the time
so efficiently and systemtitioally carried ou
fcy Rev. Gushing Kelts, under the care af
terwards of Prof. E. A. Tanner, Myron

Stalker and Prof. J. W. Marsh, with sever
