Upon examination of roof ou Central building we found that with little expense It could be made to do for two or three ytars to come. We also failed to paint the Central ou account of the scarcity of funds. This, with some other Improvements might have I., e i made hy tKrrnwing the $500 authorized at last annual meeting, but we decided it beat not to increase the indebtedness uf the district. The $4000 indebtedness we have funded at li per cent Interest, Instead of 8 per cent as heretofore. Un account of the lower valuation of all real estate and improvements In the district, there will be between $1200 ami $11100 less from the county fund than last year, while the special tax will he upon the same low valuation. We have, therefore, had to ask for 4 mills instead of ii to make good this deficiency. With this additional tax it will not be possible to make any improvements or add any additional grades to the High school, as many tbluk necessary. The High Bchool occupies the old oourlhouse, which we have leased at $10 per month, or $120 per year. This lease Is for oue year, with a privilege of three years. While this is not all that could be desired, either as to building or location, yet it was the best we could do, and we are of the oplulon It Is best to continue the use of this building for this purpose until the district is In betUrcoudition finan cially than at preselit.
