The Rsgister of a recent date drew en its imagination for the material it used In an article written for the pur pose of injuring J w Hamilton, nominee for circuit Judge of this judi cial district on the Union ticket. It claims Mr Hamilton is tbe owner of many mortgages on Douglas county farms, and owns stock In a bank. We have excellent authority for as serting tbe untruthfulness of the state ments made by the Register. Mr Hamilton Is not a bank stockholder, nor does he possess mortgages to any considerable amount. His eutlre mort gage notes-toot up only $ 1800. A very mall amount for a lawyer who, for years, has enjoyed a large practice in Douglas and adjoining counties. Insinuations that Mr Hamilton Is not in sympathy with tbe principles ot the party whose nomination he has acccepted, are unjust and cot accord ing to the facts. A prominent and reliable man ot Douglas county, who has ample op portunity for Impartial observation, is our authority for these statements which justioe t Mr Hamilton de mands, should be made public logs tor sale. The undersigned will have for sale ou or about June 1 a lot of first-class yellow fir saw logs, about one and one half million feet. Some are now beluK cut and banked ready to roll into the river at my farm near Elliston. Par ties wishing to purchase saw logs are invited to call and inspect them on or about May 1 next. Also I will have about as many more for sale by next all, and a further lot of from 8,000,000 to 4.000,000 feet to be prepared for market during tbe season of '08 and '90 All or said logs will be bauked at my place on tbe McKenzle river.
