IVriiiuiivnt road work is being lone by a number of districts. Some of tho smaller ones nro es pecially active. Ono district that shoul.l receive the attention of the commissioners court is Springfield. The new road that was opened a few years niro cast of that town is almost impassable in winter or spring. An occasional load ol gravel (lumped m a mud hole, if anything makes tho situation worse. I ho district is a wealthy one and hould place the roads in good con dition. An udmouiliiin from the court might wako the supervisor to u Bciito of his duty. Tho Walb rvillo road district has a supervisor that should he allowed great credit. With only two as sessments ho has made quitu a stretch of excellent road though the timber above that place, where formerly the road was well nigh iinpassaplo until siumner, then bd rough that it nearly killed the traveler that was so unfortunate as to bo compelled to rido over it. In addition to this work the district contributed work on ti e road west of the free ferrv. Stricter sutler- vision should bo exercised over supervisors, and. if tho court has the power, those who do not per form their duty should ho removed. loo many of them do little excent draw their pay.
