Editor Guard. According to an
nouncement I delivered a lecture at
Goshen. Nov, 13th. and proceeded to
organize an Alliance with eight charter
neuibers. The audience was not as
1 re as we expected, from the fact that
there was a quarterly meeting being
held at the same time, and bo the au
dience was divided, but what they
lucked in numbers they made up in
earnestness, and bo the good work
moves on. Names of the charter mem

with a watchful eye."
The roads are getting badly cut up
and it is rather difficult to get around
and gather up the murmurings of the
neighborhood. Observer.
To Be Dedicated. The new Christ
Ian church at Cottage Grove will be
dedicated the first Sunday in Decem
ber. David Wetzell, pastor of the
First Christian church, of Portland, is
to preach the dedicatory sermon. They
expect a good time, and cordially in
vite everybody.

A Fatal Hemorrhage. Tuesday's
Itoscburir Plalndealer: Mr. O. W.
(Jorrell, living a few miles below Oak
land waa buried with Masonic honors
this morning. Mr. Oorrell's death re
sulted from an Internal hemorrhage
from which he bled to dentil. Last
Friday he waa enraged In slaughtering
hogs and lifted one of the heaviest of
the carcasses, and turning to a by
stander said, "That was a pretty heavy
lift." A few minutes afterwards he
called from an adjacent shed for help,
and those present going in answer to
his cull found him bleeding profusely
from mouth and nose. Medical aid
was summoned but It was found im
possible to stop the flow of blood and
io died yesterday morning.

Wilson White, the man who was
taken to Portland. Tuesday, on tbe
charge of cutting timber on govern
ment land, In Chesher precinct, an
rieared In the U. H. Circuit Court in
hat city, yesterday, plead guilty to the
charge, and was sentenced to pay a
fine of $100, or to lie Imprisoned in the
Lane county Jail for the term of thirty
days. Not having any money he was
compelled to choose the latter penalty.
lie was brought here last evening by a
Deputy United Rates Marshal, turned
over to Hhcrltr Noland, aud la now
serving out the sentence.
