Tuesday'! East Oregoniun contains the
following: "The oaae of Geo, Ilahn vs. tbe
Baker City lodge, A. F. 4 A. M., taken un
der advisement by Judge James A. Fee, was
decided last evenlcg In favor of the plaint ilf.
The case is of tome interest, It appears
that the property in dispute, fifty feet front,
in Baker City, with a building thereon, waa
sold to Geo. Ilahn, commercial man, but
that only the lower story of tbe building was
included in tbe transaction, the upper story
being sold to the defendants in the case.
The building burned down in tbe recent
fire, and Hahn contended that tbe interest
of the lodge in the building or property waa
destroyed by the conflagration, and brought
suit to establish hi sole title to the proper
ty. The lodge contended, as a portion of
the walla were standing that Hahn waa ob
liged to restore bis portion of the building
iu order that they could rebuild tbe upper
story by them occupied before tbe fire. Tbe
case waa argued in Chambers not long ago
and decided ai stated. It will probably be
appealed
At Monmouth a petition 1 beinp circu
lated and generally signed by the people
demanding that the young men who were
suspended from the normal school on ac
count of the Stanley affair be reinstated, and
that thorough investigation be made of
tbe charges preferred by them. From this
it would seem that the first investigation
was a wblte-woih. And as the suspended
scholars hold lo their story that they saw the
profoasor in a compromising position with
one of the lady teachers, the second investi
gation may have a different roault from tbe
first. Salem Statesman.
