He received a basketful of let tera from girls, old maids, graaa widows, widows of high and low degree, and others wbo were willing to correspond with bim "with a view to matrimony," bnt about a week ago he received a reply which impress ed bim most favorably. A well-preserved widow of about 45, wrote, modestly stating that she was a good cook, not afraid of housework and was not without some means, and briefly designawd tbe residence where he might cull and see ber, which invitation be accepted forthwith. One call followed another, and it did not require many days for them to discover tbat they were of one mind npon the subject. In fact tbvir brief acquaintance bad developed into more than friendship, and there were "Two minds with but a aingle thought, Two hearts that beut as one." Tbe day was accordingly set and the con tracting parties, Mr. W. B. Shannon and Mra. Ii A. Reynolds, wbo ware brought to gether through that all powerful agent, prin ter' ink, were united in marriage ai the home of the bride'a daughter in Albany, George Humphrey, Eaq., officiating.
